As the gold price rises some people wonder how to refine gold. Gold refining is a method of converting unrefined gold into a fungible and functional form. With this purification procedure, unwanted impurities and additional metallic elements are purified from the gold in order to increase its purity. This method is used most often for converting discarded gold and other metal alloys that can be used to be sold for profit.
Nevertheless, this operation is costly in terms of both time and money. If the individuals that do this are not trained properly costs rise extremely quickly. There are many companies that refine gold professionally but they can be costly.
The basic process that nearly everyone uses to refine gold in their home usually involves scrap items that they posses such as gold jewelry or gold plated objects. Refining gold can be very dangerous. What they usually do is immerse their gold jewelries and treat them in a chemical bath. This liquid is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. This process is rather easy as most would just leave their scrap gold items immersed in this solution for almost a whole day.
The next procedure in this gold refining operation is to remove the chemical solution and see what remains. Most of the time what should remain is gold, but there will also be other metallic elements and even stones to be found. Though the process involves acid, this solution is not strong enough to completely dissolve other metals. Once you have removed the chemical solution, the remaining metallic elements should be neutralized by uric acid.
Next, use Sodium Bi Sulfate to extract the gold of from the solution. If you have extracted the pure form gold then you can convert it into a single mold by heating and torching. Be sure to place it in water to let it cool down once you are finished. You have now completed your first gold refining process.
By the end of this process you should have created your first gold bullion piece. Before you keep or decide sell the gold bullion you should first let a qualified metallurgist or gemologist perform an assay, a test and grade of your gold bullion. This will let you know how much your gold bullion is worth. This process is called assaying. Once the value is determined you can now safely store your gold bullion in your own private safe until it’s time to cash in.
Gold refining is a time-consuming but potentially profitable activity. There is a satisfying feeling when you have created your first gold bullion at home. And most that have started to do this have access to gold scraps and other metal items. Some people buy gold scraps from others and perform all of the gold refining process at home. Some enterprising individuals have built entire businesses completely out of purchasing scrap gold, purifying it and selling it for profit.
This is a very good way to start your own home business. With a little bit of training and having the right materials and chemicals, gold refining at home is a perfect business opportunity for anyone with the determination to succeed.
